Combining fine art rubber stamping, mixed media techniques and paper crafting, these are art forms that I love to share. I like the idea of learning together -- sharing what I learn and learning from what others share.
Last night, I started watching "Homeland" from the very beginning. I had to color something during some of the tense scenes that I couldn't just sit and watch. I quickly stamped this floral bouquet from Magenta and colored it with watercolor markers. Today, I figured out how I wanted to finish the card design. I pulled out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush water-based pens to use with the Penny Black "Bouquets" Clear stamp set. It became a little addictive, I couldn't stop! You'll see another card tomorrow using another one of the bouquets in the stamp set. Today's card will go to a friend who celebrates her 70th birthday with a drop-in reception later this afternoon. Using the MISTI, I stamped the image onto 140 lb. cold press watercolor card stock with archival ink. I left the stamp
I finally finished the card samples for the Local King Card Class at Art 'n Soul. Hopefully we'll be able to set the class date tomorrow. This is a die that I've been wanting to use for many months. I used several colors of card stock to run through the machine so I would have multiple colors to work with. Cut the Abstract Cover-Up die using various colors of card stock. Decide which colors you want for the outside frame, the inside frame, and the colored pieces. Adhere all o
Tomorrow is my grandniece's 15th birthday. Of course, she's going to be 15 going on 42! I thought I'd make a quirky card to lighten things up. And this card couldn't be any more of that. That crazy bird was colored with colored pencils, as well as the hat. The hat was covered with Glossy Accents for a little dimension, as well as a bubble at the top. After stamping the bird, a stencil design was applied using Memento inks. I stenciled after so I could see where the bird was t
Sorry for the absence the last couple of days. When I left a card class at Art 'n Soul on Saturday afternoon, I was driving to a memorial event and about 1/2 mile up the road my head pain came in with a roar! It was all I could do to get home. Even the pain meds didn't work. So, I also missed a Mended Hearts Auction & Dinner that evening and a full day working on the studio project yesterday. I slept a lot and watched a few movies . . . boring! I've been waiting and waiting
While beginning the 'serious' clean out of my studio, I rediscovered my Zig Clean Color Real Brush water-based markers from Kuretake. It's been quite some time since we've known each other, so it was a quick learning curve that I delighted in. I'm not saying I'm totally back but I felt we made some progress in our relationship. This Penny Black stamp was shouting at me, so I paired them up. Layer the colors, starting with the lightest and then the darkest; blend with the mid-
