Going Postal
I'm in a swap group that sends either a rectangle (self-mailing postcard) or a round (Altered Trading Coin) each month. This month, we were asked to send our partner a postcard using a spring theme. I was lucky to find a pre-designed postcard on very heavy chipboard; I don't know where they came from but I think Impress Cards & Crafts in Tukwila, WA is ordering some for customers who are attending a "Creating Connections with Postcards" class there next Saturday, March 30. I

A Magenta Kind of Day
I know I don't use my Magenta Stamps as often as I'd like to. Every one of their stamps is beautifully and artfully designed; and the quality of the rubber is the best. I'm so fortunate to have been introduced to Magenta's line of stamps and other art supplies in my beginning days of stamping. Birthday card 5" wide & 6.5 high This is a Christmas poinsettia stamp that I used as a non-seasonal flower. All of the watercoloring is done on Strathmore 140 lb. hot press watercolor p

Bring out those colored pencils . . .
My card for a friend who recently lost her husband unexpectedly. My first inclination was to color the image with watercolors. My mind was scattered. I decided to rely on my Prismacolor colored pencils. I stamped the image with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I colored in with my colored pencils. I've always loved how the pencil colors really come out on black paper. Using an A6 black card, rub your embossing buddy* over the entire surface of the

A Little Mono
I wanted more of a monochromatic type of card design. This came out a little more "colorful" than I had intended. However, I like how the brown tones and green tones came together. More Background Fun from Impression Obsession
Sweet peas are one of the sweet memories I have from my early childhood. My mother grew them behind the detached garage, along with the 'Pennies from Heaven'. One day while take a walk around a small island in upper Puget Sound, I found them growing wild along the roadside. When I saw the Sweet Peas Cover-a-Card stamp design by Dina Kowal for IO, I knew I had to order this stamp. Hot, Hot Spring Day
The weather has been absolutely scorching. Yesterday it was in the 90's and today it hit 90 again! I am ever so thankful that we have air conditioning in our home. This will be a very short post because this heat has just worn me out, and I've had quite a day. You're probably very tired of hearing me rave about the Pen and Ink stamps by Josephine Kimberling. But I'm not tired of using the stamps, over and over and over again. I needed to make a birthday card very quickly; of

Simple in Grays
What a blur these past couple of days have been. Today was much more calm, and it was a great day because it started with a class using new art board cut-outs from Inchie Arts. There were 3 of us who totally enjoyed Lisa Lee's class. She's teaching it again at Art 'n Soul in Lacey, WA on Saturday, July 9. If you're not signed up for this class, you're going to want to. Are these not the cutest cards? Inchie Arts is packaging the cut-out shapes, and RubberMoon has the new stam

Happy Mother's Day
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the women I know, even some "mom" dads. You're a mother, even if you haven't given birth to or adopted a child. It's the family, friends and paw'd loved ones that you nurture each and every day. I made this card for my granddaughter. She is enjoying her second year of motherhood and she's one of the most loving mommies I'm proud to say. To top off my joy, her little one is the spitting image and character that she was at two. Playing with MISTI
This afternoon the stamp club I belong to enjoyed a play day. We brought our MISTI's and stamped away. We're all learning that the MISTI is a must-have tool for many reasons. I not only love it for the repeated impressions that can be made; I also love it because it allows me to stamp sentiments exactly where I want them and in a straight line! I've been wanting to use this Penny Black stamp for a long time. I had tried it without the MISTI and I wasn't very successful. With

Crazy Bird Birthday
Tomorrow is my grandniece's 15th birthday. Of course, she's going to be 15 going on 42! I thought I'd make a quirky card to lighten things up. And this card couldn't be any more of that. That crazy bird was colored with colored pencils, as well as the hat. The hat was covered with Glossy Accents for a little dimension, as well as a bubble at the top. After stamping the bird, a stencil design was applied using Memento inks. I stenciled after so I could see where the bird was t
