A Magenta Kind of Day
I know I don't use my Magenta Stamps as often as I'd like to. Every one of their stamps is beautifully and artfully designed; and the quality of the rubber is the best. I'm so fortunate to have been introduced to Magenta's line of stamps and other art supplies in my beginning days of stamping. Birthday card 5" wide & 6.5 high This is a Christmas poinsettia stamp that I used as a non-seasonal flower. All of the watercoloring is done on Strathmore 140 lb. hot press watercolor p

Bring out those colored pencils . . .
My card for a friend who recently lost her husband unexpectedly. My first inclination was to color the image with watercolors. My mind was scattered. I decided to rely on my Prismacolor colored pencils. I stamped the image with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I colored in with my colored pencils. I've always loved how the pencil colors really come out on black paper. Using an A6 black card, rub your embossing buddy* over the entire surface of the

A Fractured Foot
I know, where have I been since I haven't posted in a week. Well, my ankle gave way when I stepped down and down I went, body and all. X-rays the next day revealed 3 fractures in my foot around my ankle bone from rolling into the fall. The doctor said either the ligament or the bone will give way under that much stress; luckily it was the bone and not the ligament. I've been on the sofa, 24/7, with my ankle elevated and on ice. I have a walking boot and crutches and I can hob

Laurel Burch at Stampendous
Well, the day started out with so many intentions continuing from yesterday. I took the one and only step down to the garage and my ankle gave way. I went down and did something my ankle didn't like. Nothing broke but it sure feels like someone hit my left foot with a humongous sledgehammer. I limped my way to the post office and returned home. All I've done is sit in my big chair with my foot up and on ice. Nothing is helping. Oh well. Live and learn. I've learned I'm a klut

Far Too Long
It's been far too long since I've posted and here it is the end of the year. WOW! I did make Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards; however, I was far too busy to sit down and post them . . . it does take time to compose the script, edit and post the pics, and tag the supplies and tools. Since I last posted, we spent 2 weeks in Italy at the end of August, 12 days in London in early October and 5 days later, 2 weeks in Hawaii. We returned from Hawaii and 2 days later we

Seattle Wishes
Yesterday was my husband's birthday. He's not a flashy person; he likes most everything to be of simple lines and color. We went to Seattle to enjoy dinner with his son, so I decided this card would be the perfect one for him, thanks to Altenew Stamps. On a piece of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Card Stock, I stamped the image with VersaMark using my MISTI. I heat embossed with white embossing powder. With the small distress ink pads, I applied two colors of Distress Inks; I

Upright and Mobile is a good thing
I'm upright and mobile. I'm comfortable in my home. All of this is a good thing! Yesterday I learned that a very good friend's wife is enduring a traumatic medical condition under the top-notch care of Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. Today, I learn that one of the attendant's at Hannah's grooming salon has lost her home to a fire; luckily, their 12 year-old son spent the night with his grandma and was not in the area where the fire caused the most damage. Please look aroun

What a Wonderful World
It IS a wonderful world. I can even say that on a Monday! The sun was out in full glory today . . . our thermometer read 88 degrees this afternoon. Its too early in the year to enjoy that kind of summer day on a regular basis, so we'll take it when it shows up. It was our nephew's 47th birthday too. I spent the day making potato salad and homemade apple pie for the family celebration. My card today was inspired by Penny Ward; she's always creating beautiful cards. She posted

A Quickie!
Another quickie card in the works today. Just found out some wonderful news from a family I know out-of-state and I wanted to send a note off immediately. What quicker way is there than to pull out my Nuance watercolors, embossing powder and die cutting machine! Inked with VersaMark; embossed with white embossing powder onto watercolor card stock. Misted with water and shook Nuance in several places. With a wet watercolor brush, moved the colors around. Blotted with a paper t

Making New with the Old
Yesterday was another day of not a lot of time in the studio for anything. So, I spent a good deal of time last night into the wee hours continuing to undo what is visible in the main area of the house from my organization and purging project. My dear husband is getting somewhat anxious because we have a St. Paddy's dinner party for 12 on Thursday. In between clearing away, I had to do something in the studio. I had come across these mixed media boards we had worked on at a M

Magenta's Nuance & IMAGINE Crafts' Fireworks!
Another slow day. My back is better but has little twinges now and then, especially if I lean over to pick something up. What to do? Clean out some paper piles (i.e., receipts, statements, etc.) and find a little play time in the studio. In the same British magazine that I discovered how to make yesterday's card with washi tape, I also came upon a technique to use powdered watercolors with clear plastic wrap. Coincidentally, Dianne Johnson also used a similar technique in the
