A Golden Day

Yesterday didn't go as planned but that's okay; it was a terrific day. I was supposed to drive to Bellevue for my haircut and my head started doing its thing, so I rescheduled and drove back home. On the way, though, I stopped at Happy Donuts here in Puyallup . . . the BEST donut shop ever! My comfort food was donut holes and they filled the spot. Later, I went to Costco and found the perfect salad kit for dinner. I continued my organizing and purging, and I even managed to clear out a drawer in the filing cabinet for my newly semi-retired husband.

Today's card is for a friend who is going through a lot of medical tests to figure out what's wrong with her health. She's going about her business but is getting pretty down as one test after another yields no answers.

I don't have the pleasure yet of using the new stamps from Magenta's Summer 2016 release, so I have to "make do" with what is in my collection. It's still difficult to select which stamp to use because they're all so wonderful to work with.

Magenta Style, VersaMark, IMAGINE Crafts, Delicata, US ArtQuest, Spellbinders, Crafter's Companion, Conqueror Cover Card Stock, Craft Medley, Sequins, Tombow

Magenta stamps:

Leaves of Joy 85.017.O

Make a Wish 07.884.F

VersaMark watermark ink & Ranger Embossing Powder (Queen's Gold)

IMAGINE Crafts' Delicate in Golden Glitz with ink dauber

U.S. Art Quest Sparkling Pastelles Watercolor Palette PRL804

Spellbinders' Nestabilities: Labels Forty Nine (S4-567)

"Elegance" Card Pak card stock (11" x 17") from Crafter's Companion

Conqueror card stock 118# Cover Card Stock (sentiment block)

Black card stock 65#

Gold embossed handmade paper (source unknown)

Craft Medley Cup Sequins

Magenta Peel-off "Frame & Corners" POM972G

Foam Mounting tape

Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Adhesive

Black 65# card stock; stamped Leaves of Joy stamp with VersaMark and embossed with Queen's Gold powder. Colored with the U.S. ArtQuest palette. "Flicked" gold watercolor with brush on both the black card stock and the white card stock.

Die cut the black card stock with the 3rd from the largest die. Used the same die size to cut an opening in the scrap piece of embossed gold handmade paper (5.25" square). Adhered the frame panel to a piece of gold glossy card stock (5.5" square). Inlaid the black die cut inside the opening. Placed this onto the top-fold base card (5.75" square). I also cut a 1/4" strip of the base card stock to place along the left side, showing the gold glossy card stock on the left side of the strip and the handmade paper on the right side..

After stamping the sentiment on white card stock, die cut with smaller nesting die. Color the edges with the Golden Glitz ink using a dauber, then flick the gold watercolor from the U.S. ArtQuest palette with the paintbrush. Adhere with foam mounting tape.

The corner peel-offs were applied; the sequins were added and adhered with liquid glue.

On the Memory Box blog, Jean Okimoto has posted two different cards using the same die . . . Hovering Butterfly Frame. I think you'll really like both ways she used the die. I'm definitely going to have to re-think purchasing this die because what Jean has created is gorgeous.

Els has her own page on Facebook, Els van de Burgt Studio. I'm always inspired by her creativity . . . and energy level! I loved this card she posted . . .

Elizabeth Craft Designs, Els van de Burgt

"Did some coloring with Copic markers on our Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. The Rose is Peel Off sticker 1282 in black.I used different colors off our NEW Colored Soft Finish Cardstock and Stitched and Fitted dies. I worked with the Medallion Stencil from Karen Burniston last week and the background you see is the leftover. I just put the stencil down on a piece of Colored Soft Finish Cardstock and rubbed it off." -- Els van de Burgt, Elizabeth Craft Designs

Thanks for stopping in. I hope that you won't be fooled too much today since it's April Fools Day!
