Magenta & Distress Oxides

Last night, I started watching "Homeland" from the very beginning. I had to color something during some of the tense scenes that I couldn't just sit and watch. I quickly stamped this floral bouquet from Magenta and colored it with watercolor markers. Today, I figured out how I wanted to finish the card design.

Prismacolor Card Stock

Kraft Card Stock

Watercolor Brush, Ink Dauber & Fine Mist Sprayer

The card base is the 118# heavy card stock cut to a 10" x 7" rectangle. Place the long edge along the top edge of the scoring tool and score at 5" to make a 5" x 7" card base.

Stamp the floral bouquet onto watercolor card stock with Memento Ink in Black Tuxedo and heat set. Color the bouquet with Tombow watercolor markers. Use at least 2 tones of each color that you use. Die cut the image with the Memory Box Stitched Oval die to fit inside the oval on the Spellbinder die. Cut both the green card stock and Stick It! sheet to 5-1/2" by 6" and adhere together. Die cut the adhesive-backed green Prismacolor card stock with the Spellbinder die; be sure to use a shim because of the detailed design, and run the die through your machine twice in one direction and twice in the other direction. It's recommended to use wax paper between the die and card stock so it is easier to punch the card stock away from the die. From the corners of the remaining green card stock, punch out the four corners.

Cut a piece of kraft card stock 4-7/8" x 6-7/8". With an ink dauber, apply and blend the two Distress Oxide inks on the kraft card stock. Spray it with a fine water mister to activate the ink. Heat set. Because the Spiced Marmalade fades a little, re-apply more of the marmalade with the ink dauber. With a paint brush dipped into water, sprinkle water droplets on the marmalade areas. Heat set.

Adhere the inked mat panel to the card base. Center the ornate green die cut on the card front; remove the adhesive backing and adhere to the card. Press down on all edges. With foam mount tape, adhere the stamped oval die cut to the center. Place an orange droplet at the top and bottom center of the ornate die cut. Remove the adhesive backing on the corners and adhere.

Overlay the sentiment banner with adhesive. Using the Magenta peel-offs, outline the banner with the black dotted lines and add the small dots as shown.

Thank you for your visit today. I hope you'll be back for another visit very soon. In the meantime, try the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks . . . you're gonna really love them!
