A Little Mono

I wanted more of a monochromatic type of card design. This came out a little more "colorful" than I had intended. However, I like how the brown tones and green tones came together.

Penny Black Stamps, Elizabeth Craft Designs, Prismacolor Colored Pencils, Sakura, Tsukineko VersaFine Ink

Conqueror 118# Cover Card Stock in Diamond White (stamped panel & sentiment panel)

A6 pre-cut and scored card in white

I stamped the floral design onto the white card stock with the Vintage Sepia ink. I heat set the image to avoid smearing with my hand. The coloring was done with Prismacolor Coloring Pencils. I used variations of peach on the center flower, highlighted with light touches of Tuscan Red, and blended out with the white pencil. The brown tones were mixed with the peach and blended with the white pencil. You must avoid using the "blending pencil" that is sold with the Prismacolor colored pencil sets because it only makes mud, and once it's used with your colored pencils, you won't be able to go back over it. The center pieces of the flowers were colored with the Sakura Glaze Pen in dark red and sepia. I used two colors of light green to lightly color around the lines of the foliage. Once the coloring was finished, I fussy-cut the outside edges.

The sentiment was stamped onto the same white card stock with the Vintage Sepia ink, heat set and die cut. Using a finger dauber, I very lightly went around the end edges of the banner AFTER I swiped the dauber onto a scrap piece of paper first because the VersaFine ink is very wet.

I found a scrap of embossed Shimmer Sheetz! that had been cut as a large corner. After adhering the velvet paper to the base card, and the Shimmer Sheetz! corner, I placed the stamped image on top with foam mount tape. The sentiment banner was snuggled underneath the overhanging petal at the bottom and adhered with double-sided adhesive.

A friend of mine is going through a little rough patch and I hope this card will brighten her day.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by.
