I'm in a swap group that sends either a rectangle (self-mailing postcard) or a round (Altered Trading Coin) each month. This month, we were asked to send our partner a postcard using a spring theme.
I was lucky to find a pre-designed postcard on very heavy chipboard; I don't know where they came from but I think Impress Cards & Crafts in Tukwila, WA is ordering some for customers who are attending a "Creating Connections with Postcards" class there next Saturday, March 30.
I cut out a shape to go around the sentiment and placed it on the card stock to leave space for it when it was time to stamp it. Mailing a postcard means no attachments, i.e., bling, die-cuts, ephemera, etc. I stamped the floral image with Hero Hues' Unicorn pigment ink and heat set it. The image was colored with Prismacolor Colored Pencils. The sentiment and border stencil were stamped with Tsukineko's Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black. I used a stencil around the edge and applied the ink with a finger dauber. I heat set the Memento inks . . . just in case.
I stamped the "message" part of the postcard with Memento Ink, and heat set the sentiment. Everything else you see on this side of the postcard was pre-printed.
I sprayed both sides of the postcard with a matte finish fixative spray. Why? I don't know what the weather elements are going to be as it snail-mails itself to its destination; and I certainly didn't want any moisture to cause the inks to smear or run together.
