Rediscovering my Zigs!

While beginning the 'serious' clean out of my studio, I rediscovered my Zig Clean Color Real Brush water-based markers from Kuretake. It's been quite some time since we've known each other, so it was a quick learning curve that I delighted in. I'm not saying I'm totally back but I felt we made some progress in our relationship.

This Penny Black stamp was shouting at me, so I paired them up.

Penny Black Stamps, Kuretake, Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, Lawn Fawn, Spellbinders,

Layer the colors, starting with the lightest and then the darkest; blend with the mid-range value.

With the butterfly, I went back over it with the white Prismacolor pencil to lighten it up before applying the Wink of Stella wash of clear glitter.

With the Niji watercolor brush, I pulled a little color from the leaves (and a little from the petals and butterfly) to give a very faint wash of color for the background.

Stamps:

  • Penny Black "Botanical Notes" 40-276

  • Lawn Fawn "Scripty Sayings" LF844

Dies:

  • Spellbinders' Wonky Squares S4-289

  • Lawn Cuts by Lawn Fawn "Everyday Sentiment Banners" LF1139

Archival Ink in Jet Black

Orange Glitter Pen (drawn over sentiment)

Prismacolor colored pencil in white

Wink of Stella pen in GL CLEAR 999 from Kuretake

Niji watercolor brush

Clean Color Real Brush Markers:

051 Lemon Yellow; 050 Yellow; 067 Mustard; 070 Orange; 052 Bright Yellow; 002 Fl. Orange; 021 Light Carmine; 053 Yellow Green; 045 Pale Green; 041 Light Green; 004 Fl. Green; 042 Turquoise Green; 083 Lilac; 036 Light Blue; 032 Persian Blue; 034 Dull Blue

Card Base: 118# Conqueror Card Stock in Diamond White

Stamped image on 118# Conqueror Card Stock in Diamond White and after coloring, cut it with the Wonky Die (largest size). I adhered the die cut onto Mustard Yellow Smugi (Japanese Linen paper) from Hanko Designs, and trimmed very close to the edge with the extra-large Martha Stewart scissors (the best! for accurate cutting). A scrap piece of decorated scrapbook paper was adhered to the 5.5" square card base, followed by the die cut piece with foam mounting tape. The sentiment was stamped with the archival ink, the sentiment was die cut with the banner die and overwritten with the orange glitter pen.

Over on the Magenta blog, Bianca van Noort has created a beautiful card using Magenta templates and Nuance. Check it out! There is something so refreshnig about the green and blue colors highlighted with white.
