A Magenta Kind of Day

I know I don't use my Magenta Stamps as often as I'd like to. Every one of their stamps is beautifully and artfully designed; and the quality of the rubber is the best. I'm so fortunate to have been introduced to Magenta's line of stamps and other art supplies in my beginning days of stamping.

Birthday card

5" wide & 6.5 high

This is a Christmas poinsettia stamp that I used as a non-seasonal flower. All of the watercoloring is done on Strathmore 140 lb. hot press watercolor paper. After stamping and heat embossing the image, I used Ranger's Distress and Tsukineko's Memento Inks as the watercolor source. After applying water to the area I wanted to color with a watercolor brush, I rubbed the ink pad on a clear acrylic stamping block and dipped into the color with a watercolor brush. Before and after each "dab" of my watercolor brush, I lightly tapped it onto a piece of paper towel to avoid "over-watering" -- you can always add but it's difficult to absorb too much water. Using a circle die, I cut out a matting layer and the top layer to frame the image. The sentiment was stamped onto the linen card stock with the VersaFine Clair ink in Summertime. I've been hoarding the beautifully embossed paper that I saw on Birch Press Design's website and purchased at Impress Cards + Crafts in Tukwila, WA.

Here are two more cards I made using Magenta's beautiful stamps. It's been a busy week making cards for birthdays, weddings, Valentine's Day and a memorial service.

What I loved about this first card is the stamp design because I could use the Warm Breeze color in VersaFine Clair for the entire background because it was included in the stamp design.

Magenta, Memory Box, Tsukineko, Ranger, Imagine Crafts, Distress Inks, Watercoloring, Strathmore

This last card was extremely easy; the background is part of the design to be stamped; I stamped it with the Pumice Stone color. I left the flower petals alone and only colored in the flower centers with glaze pen acrylic ink and a touch of gold glitter pen in the very center. I did color in one blossom with colored pencils; on a scrap piece of card stock, I stamped the image again; colored the flower; and fussy-cut around the edges. That was placed in the upper left corner for a little added dimension,
